Golden metallic by alexis bonavitacola | alcohol ink painting

Hop on the waitlist to get updates for the Summer 2018 session and receive access to a free Golden Metallic video lesson taught nowhere else! (not even in the class itself)

What if you finally said ‘yes’ to the artist within, the one who’s been waiting patiently for the right time and the perfect opportunity to embrace creativity?

Imagine what it would feel like to create stunning pieces of art. To see your work sitting proudly on the walls in your house, at art shows, galleries, and exhibitions—to take your skills to new and exciting levels.

Picture yourself surrounded by bottles of brightly-colored alcohol inks, or warmed encaustic waxes, as you let go of the ‘shoulds’, take risks, and embrace the freedom to express yourself fully through your art—maybe even for the first time in your life?

And what if you could do all of this without leaving home to attend expensive art classes, and without it taking up all of your time and cutting into other commitments?

AB_Enlightenment.png

JUST THINK:

Giving yourself permission to explore

would open up a whole new realm of exciting possibilities and joyful connections that you might never have had access to otherwise.

It would lead you to discover the artist you’ve always known you are with a newfound freedom to express yourself fully as you open up and create straight from your heart.

And maybe, just maybe, you would finally acknowledge that you CAN actually do this, that you DO have what it takes to create incredible art.

 Marlene

"Because of all of your encouragement and inspiration to me and to all of your students, I have entered two local art shows -- both at art clubs to which I belong. The last one and biggest one, I entered four alcohol inks and sold three of them. I just submitted three more for this month’s show and I am feeling empowered!!

I am so thankful that I met you! I came away with a friend, a teacher, a mentor and a new sense of who I am as an artist. I can now call myself an artist and not wonder if I am one - I am!!"

MARLENE

and it’s time to coax her/him out.
You just need a little guidance, the right kind of instruction and a big dose of love-soaked encouragement.

Energy.Motion.Flow: The Beauty of Alcohol Inks & Beyond will give you that and so much more…

“You helped my inner artist emerge brighter than every before!
I am sure there are many people who need that inspiration and will be so rewarded by working with you.”

EVA

Energy.Motion.Flow: The Beauty of Alcohol Inks and Beyond is my signature program for people of all ages and skill levels

who want to discover and enhance their artistic potential to create truly stunning works of art using alcohol inks, and encourages those of you who want to go beyond to explore more advanced techniques using encaustic wax.

Here is just a sampling of some of our student's amazing artwork:

Do you dream of...

AB_FreedomToExplore.png

Immersing yourself in your art and feeling free to get completely lost in it, but you feel guilty spending too much time and money on yourself?

Creating beautiful art you're proud of that fully represents who you are, you just need guidance and a boost of confidence to get you going?

One day turning your passion for art into a profitable side business or full-time gig, but you've got no idea where to start and it all feels overwhelming?

If this sounds like you, you’re not alone!

I’ve seen so many people put their passion for art on the back-burner because they believe it’s too self-indulgent. As parents, friends and coworkers we look after everybody else first, and carving out more time from an already busy schedule to make art somehow feels… wrong.

We prioritize the ‘real world’ tasks, like working to pay the bills and looking after our families, and in the process we put off doing the things that we love, those things that truly light us up.

But when it comes to pursuing our passions and finding the time to explore and express ourselves through art it’s up to us to find a way to make it happen.

WHICH IS EXACTLY WHY I CREATED ENERGY.MOTION.FLOW: THE BEAUTY OF ALCOHOL INKS AND BEYOND

What if pursuing your art goals could be this easy and fun?

Explore the possibilities as you embrace your creative potential.

Immerse yourself in the joyful fluidity and the endless ways in which alcohol ink paintings seem to defy imagination.

You can't put a price on what you’ve created for us all. Thank YOU, Alexis, for dreaming up such a wonderful EXPERIENCE!”

“This was the first online course I ever took and Alexis set the bar incredibly high. The number of technique demos, along with the feedback, support, and encouragement provided by Alexis was unbelievably generous. She was definitely born to be an artist and a teacher. Alexis is “all in” when it comes to her students and that is something I genuinely respect and appreciated. She created a fantastic, fun, judgment-free, and nurturing learning environment. Alexis’s teaching style fosters a group dynamic that is positive and encouraging. This class was a breathe of fresh air!  This class has honestly been a life-changer for me.”

AB_HomePage_MiniBio.png

And if we haven’t already met, my name’s Alexis…

I’m a passionate artist first and foremost. My other love is teaching. I hold a doctorate in education and I’ve spent the last 20 years working as a teacher. I have led over 600 students through my premium, signature online program Energy.Motion.Flow: The Beauty of Alcohol Inks and Beyond.

I teach artists of all skill levels to break free from constraints and discover their true potential.

Alcohol inks have helped me to think outside the box (although, I’m not entirely sure I was ever really in one to begin with!) and pushed me to create my own unique style of painting.

And that’s exactly what I want to teach you to do, which is why I created Energy.Motion.Flow: The Beauty of Alcohol Inks and Beyond.

And here’s the fancy-pants professional bio:

Alexis Bonavitacola is an award winning artist, creative entrepreneur and passionate educator. She has spent over 20 years working as a teacher and public school administrator and holds a doctorate in education. Alexis teaches artists of all skill levels to discover their true creative potential by giving them the confidence and encouragement they need to explore and discover new artistic possibilities. Past students call her the ‘Soul Art Shaman’ and her courses ‘Yoga for the soul’.

In a modern world where we can access every tool or resource we need with the touch of a finger, (but not always with the personal touch we crave), Alexis is carving out a slice of online space to create a truly connected and encouraging online community. Alexis has led over 600 eager students through her online art programs with many of them going on to win awards and have their work exhibited in art galleries. 26 of Alexis’s own work has been exhibited at the Morris Museum in Morristown, New Jersey as part of the prestigious Lino Tagliapeitra, Master of Glass Renaissance Exhibition. Alexis believes that anything is possible and anyone can achieve great heights with his/her art.  Just ask her, she started this journey at 56 and she’s only just turned 62!

Where do I start? Encouragement, organization, skills with a new type of media, how to organize what I do to teach online classes (which I am now doing,) all of these things are what I've gained from my classes with Alexis. She is a teacher's teacher: an instructor, a mentor, a cheerleader, an organizer extraordinaire! I have never, ever seen anyone who creates a safe and inspirational learning environment the way she does and to me, this is without doubt, her crowning achievement!

This is not your typical online art course

This is a one-of-a-kind artistic adventure – some would even say it’s a life changer!

I don’t take a cookie cutter approach where you purchase the course and you’re left to DIY it all on your own. I personally get to know all of my students and give individual support and feedback to ensure you get everything you need to learn, grow and flourish during the experience.

I’ve learned that if you really want to embody the artist you know you are then you have to take risks and push yourself out of your comfort zone. I give you the loving nudge you need to take that leap.

Energy.Motion.Flow: The Beauty of Alcohol Inks and Beyond gives you a step by step way of developing your skills and expanding your knowledge of alcohol inks and encaustic techniques while being surrounded and supported by a wonderful community of like-minded souls all cheering you on as you build your confidence and your portfolio. We’ll be your cheerleaders!

“Alexis shared so much of herself with us throughout the course that I feel like she is not just my teacher, but also a friend. She is fearless, sincere, generous, compassionate, hard working, a devoted teacher, and an incredible, passionate ARTIST! Her responsiveness to class members is incredible and the course is fantastic!

I feel so blessed to have experienced her class and experience all the energy that she gives to every class member! This class is the best!”

Claudia

So if you’re ready to awaken your inner artist, expand your creative potential, and create stunning works of art

The next round of Energy.Motion.Flow: The Beauty of Alcohol Inks and Beyond is Summer 2018! We'll see you then!

“Participating in Energy.Motion.Flow was a life changing experience for me!

I knew it would be a good experience, but I had no idea what greatness was in store for us! This was beyond anything I could even dream of! I don’t think there is another teacher out there that is willing to put so much time and effort and love into a class! Not only did the painting, but the TED talks helped me so much. You shared everything you know, and few artists would do that!”

Shirley

Here's What You'll Learn

 Fundamentals Module

FUNDAMENTALS MODULE: laying the foundation for learning

  • This is the week where we develop our big goals for the class. We’ll get connected in the Facebook Community, discuss feedback, make sure we have our supplies, navigate the course room and create the perfect growth mindset for our time together. This is the week that we plan for success. You'll even receive a downloadable Plan for Success - Creating A Space For Learning PDF to set you on the right path for our creative time together.

 Module 1

MODULE 1: exploring alcohol inks

  • This week is packed full of demos about the supplies you’ll need, including inks and paper. Get ready for over 50 videos in Module 1! We’ll create a few small “inky” pieces, but quickly move to the more fluid pieces testing out more and more techniques and approaches. On our second day of demonstrations, you’ll learn all about encaustic waxes and how to use them individually in a work of art or to enhance your alcohol inks paintings.

 Module 2

MODULE 2: blooms

  • Everyone loves painting flowers! I’ll explore painting flowers (some red and white poppies, various blooms of color, and other flowers that move us). We’ll paint Blooms in both inks and encaustics – what fun! You’ll also have access to my many Pinterest boards for inspiration.

 Module 3

MODULE 3: EXPRESSIVE LANDSCAPES

  • We’ll be inspired by other wonderful artists to give us ideas for possible creations. Even former students share their step-by-step instructions on how to make gorgeous trees. Other students will share their art and instructions throughout the course. Our class is a truly collaborative experience.

 Module 4

MODULE 4: sea and sky

  • In this module we will explore the elements and learn how to create truly beautiful sky and seascapes, and how to use inks and encaustics for added dimension in making waves and glorious clouds.

 Bonus Module

bonus module: so much goodness!

  • This is a potpourri of goodies and includes learning to elevate your art. In this module, I'll be interviewing several inspirational guest artists, teaching you some invaluable social media tips, and discussing the business aspect of creating, teaching art and selling.

In addition to what you'll be learning in the demonstrations, here's how the week will be structured:

Each week will be based around a new theme.

All themes include music to get you in the mood to paint as well as many inspirational TED talks which, to my students, are just one of the highlights of my unique e-course.

The abstract nature of the inks, blooms, expressive and interpretative landscapes, and sea and sky.

how to take the best pictures and how to frame and present it beautifully using software. You will feel like an artist from the first week. We’ll also be covering topics like printing, printing sources, scanners, the best apps, and where to have your artwork created into beautiful gifts for family and friends. Social media and its role in art will also be a topic of conversation.

  • You’re willing (and excited) to let go of perfection, play outside of the lines, enjoy the fluidity of this magical medium, and take a few risks with me, and the inks.
  • You love to be inspired by other artists and fabulous TED talks that will move you in ways you could never have imagined.
  • You’re open to finding your own style of painting and to new possibilities.

  • You can’t wait to explore the abstract nature of the inks, blooms, expressive landscapes and sea and sky in ink and encaustic wax.
  • You enjoy being a part of a wonderfully supportive and likeminded, lift-your-spirits community of artists. I have found that we all become the most wonderful of teachers in these types of communities.
  • You think of yourself as an artist, full of potential and excited by the possibilities, from day one of the course.

This course may not be right for you if:

  • You’re looking for a paint by numbers style art class
  • You’re not interested in developing your own unique style of painting

  • The non-painting days are used for reflection, inspiration, virtual play dates, and as an opportunity for you to take a step back from the painting and breathe. A lot of students have told me that the non-painting days have moved them in profound ways.
  • Fun Tips + Tricks is a series of videos that provides info on new art apps and websites. This is constantly updated as new platforms or software is released.
  • Every day we begin with a Space for Gratitude. This is a new addition to this class and has proved to be a wonderfully intentional way for our art journey to unfold each day.

Got Questions?

I've got answers...

  • How is the course structured?

The course work runs Monday through Friday and is released daily. The first week is for making introductions and familiarizing yourself with the virtual classroom and course materials. A high level of engagement in this first week in particular will set you up for success and help build a strong learning community.

You will be given access to a private member’s-only portal, where you can connect with other amazing artists to learn, share and grow together. When class starts, you will be invited to join our private Facebook group. You’ll get to hang out with hundreds of past alumni who are still a part of this engaged, supportive artistic learning community.

  • How much class participation is expected of me?

I believe we are all teachers in the learning process and supporting one another is key. Having said that, I also understand that not everyone feels comfortable showing his/her work in the various stages of creation. If you would rather not share with the group, then that is fine. However, you WILL be expected to provide some feedback to your fellow classmates.

  • What Lifetime Access means for Energy.Motion.Flow: The Beauty of Alcohol Inks and Beyond

You will have Lifetime Access for the particular e-course that you were enrolled in, for as long as the course exists. There are PDFs available for download, however, the videos are not downloadable.

  • What level of skill/experience in alcohol inks do I need for this course?

The course is designed for artists of all levels and abilities! We have newbies as well as seasoned ink artists. No matter your skill level, everyone has something to learn. We all get inspiration from one another. You might take this course if you want to learn how alcohol inks work, you might want to learn some new techniques, or perhaps learn to go ‘looser’ with your work.

For the advanced learners, there will be options available to try other mediums. Every learner will have the opportunity to step back and think about the process from a new point of view.

I have taken at least 16 classes in various mediums, and regardless of what I think I already know, I always learn more – and it’s always exciting!

  • What is going to happen each day?

Each week will be based around a new theme: the abstract nature of the inks, blooms, expressive and interpretative landscapes, and sea and sky.

Mondays we ease into the week and I set the stage for the week’s learning. Tuesdays and Thursdays are our demo days where you will have several opportunities to watch me paint and then try out my techniques on your own. The great thing about alcohol inks is that they dry very quickly so you’ll have the opportunity to practice two or three exercises.

Wednesdays will truly blow your mind – these days are NOT to be missed. You will meet amazing and courageous artists and always leave these discussions with a new-found appreciation for creativity.

On Fridays we cover how to market and sell your work. I’ll teach you how to take the best pictures and how to frame and present it beautifully using software. You will feel like an artist from the first week. We’ll also be covering topics like printing, printing sources, scanners, the best apps, and where to have your artwork created into beautiful gifts for family and friends. Social media and its role in art will also be a topic of conversation.

  • How tech savvy do I need to be to take this course?

To view the videos you will need high-speed Internet. The videos are an essential part of the course and there are over 100 of them, so please take this into consideration before purchasing the course. Unfortunately I cannot provide alternative options for viewing the videos and do not provide refunds if your Internet connection is faulty.

I use Vimeo for my videos. I have found that Chrome and Safari are problem free with Vimeo. If you are viewing the video on your iPad or tablet, you may need to install the free Vimeo App.

  • Can I share the course content with my family or friends?

I am thrilled that you have chosen to take the class with me and I have put an immense amount of time and energy into creating a class that I know you are going to get so much out of.

However, I ask that you do not share these lessons or your password with anyone else. Under the Copyright Act of 1976 it is illegal to share my work. Plus, you and everyone else in the class have paid and it would be unfair to give the course away to someone for free. Two of my core values are integrity and ethics and I trust that you will respect me, and your fellow classmates, in keeping these lessons within our course.

  • What if I still have questions about the program?

Please contact me with any additional questions you may have by emailing me here.

“With great sacrifice, and trepidation I signed up for Alexis’s course. No regrets.

This is a unique program packed with so much value. I’ve received more than I spent on this course, much more. The videos alone are of great value and I’ve watched many of them over and over. However, a visual demo is not complete without a universal commitment from both teacher and student. A quick demo catches the eye but not the heart. Alexis’s class does both, and she makes it look effortless. I’ve bought other courses since, but I'm afraid this one ruined me. I expected too much! Alexis is a truly gifted teacher, and I am forever her grateful student.”

Gerry

“I do feel that your class is a big bargain. I felt it was packed full of everything I could possibly expect.

In my opinion it was beyond comparable to a full semester of art classes at the college level at a quarter of the price.

The work you put in to this is phenomenal with the personal encouragement to every student, not to mention all the basic and new up to date materials and technology.”

Linda

“This is probably the least expensive art course I have ever taken given what I have gotten (and continue to get) from it. It has changed my relationship with art, from "sometimes artist" to "artist every single day". I either paint or edit or immerse myself in artistic studies or activities every single day. I never did that before in my life. It has so enhanced my life that I could pay ten times the tuition for this course (that is ongoing for a full year) and still consider it a bargain. Thank you, dear Alexis for your resolve to make this course (and others) meet YOUR objectives, that are so much broader than just demos. XOXO

This course can be life-changing. Sure changed mine!!!!

Dailey

“Alexis not only shares her love of art with her students, she shares her soul. Even though I knew nothing about the waxes or most of the tips and tricks in the course, I came to learn my ‘why’ for wanting to paint.

Beyond her AMAZING art, I believe Alexis’s greatest gift is her ability to connect with people and to connect people to each other.

As the door to the classroom closes, I like to think a window has been opened. Many, many thanks to you Alexis.”
